  Our Antique Reproduction Blanket Chests and Hope Chests, duplications of those made during the Early 18th and 19th Centuries originating in Pennsylvania, are fully handcrafted in the Old Traditional woodworking style. Most young women during this Era would have had a Hope Chest filled with household linens,quilts and blankets at the time of their marriage. These custom-made chests usually had special inlay decorations or hand carved detailing. Authentic to the time period, these blanket chests begin with 1"-1 1/8" wood that is planed down to 7/8" width. Like the originals,the joinery is Old Traditional hand-cut dovetailing and the iron hinges and handles are hand-forged. The hand-painted fan motif on the Country Sheraton Blanket Chest is museum-quality in workmanship, dating from the 19th Century. Crafted with clean lines and beautiful wood, these custom furniture chests show case themselves. These craftsmen use their  knowledge and experience to restore and repair authentic period furniture and blanket chests on a daily basis.   We offer two wonderful Old English Style Blanket Chests. Both are handcrafted with mortise and tenon joinery from beautiful hardwoods. The Sunflower Blanket Chest is an Antique Reproduction of a Hadley chest dating from the late 16th Century. This wooden chest features hand cut detailing and black stained maple in its design elements. The original blanket chest makes its home in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. The Newport Blanket Chest emulates the Queen Anne style dating from the 16 th Century. This uniquely designed custom furniture is handcrafted with the same type of graceful curvilinear lines, brass hardware and aged Walnut hardwood.

  Traditional mortise and tenon joinery is featured in the construction of the Fine Wood Blanket Chests. These custom chests have butt hinges and soft-close lids. Burl Wood veener of exceptional quality has been used in their construction along with other types of solid hardwood. The lids of these finely crafted custom furniture chests are book matched for a symmetrical look. Since no two Burl Woods are alike in natural growth patterns, all blanket chests crafted from this wood are one-of-a-kind custom furniture.
